CanForm Structures Ltd was awarded Waka Subway on a Labour only contract basis by Fulton Hogan Civil South Ltd. This structure was part of the Christchurch Southern Motorway project (CSM).
The structure consisted of insitu poured 300mm thick walls with an urban relief panel as part of the main walls. The structure also featured a 4.8m wide and 300mm thick suspended ceiling with a formed vent area.
This project was complicated by numerous aftershocks in the wake of Christchurch’s devastating February earthquake. Many of these aftershocks exceeded richter 5 magnitude. This environment meant the strictest of health and safety conditions.
